COBRA 2000 GTL BASE STATION. IT'S THE OLDER ORIGINAL MODEL MADE BY DYNASCAN IN TAIWAN IN THE EARLY 80'S. **
Cobra/Dynascan is arguably one of the
best and most well known brand names for classic CB base station radio's.
The Cobra 2000 GTL AM/SSB 40 Channel
radio is still considered one of the top 11 meter base stations ever made. It came with one speaker, with the option to add
a second one. There is nothing more impressive than a 2-speaker Cobra 2000GTL system sitting in your shack!
If
you are looking for a nice 40 Channel SSB/AM Cobra base, but don't want to spend $200.00 or more on a 2000GTL, my
recommendation would be to look at the 142GTL. This radio has all the power and versatility of the 2000, but is more compact as it has a built in speaker. It
doesn't have the frequency counter and external speaker(s), but can be purchased at 25-50 % of the price for
a 2000.
Cobra 2000GTL in Shack
Of course there were
many Cobra base radio's made before the 2000 and a few were made after the 2000 went off the shelves, but sadly after
the Cobra 2010, the famous Cobra base station line ended.
